Running Accomplishments:

I have completed the Race for the Cure 5K, Salt Lake City 5K, Heart of Holladay 5K, Deseret News 10K, Provo River 1/2 2006, Top of Utah Marathon 2005, St. George Marathon 2006.

Short-Term Running Goals:

Hopefully, I will lose all of the weight that resulted from having two children within two years (the last 10-15 lbs. are a pain to drop).

Long-Term Running Goals:

I would like to keep improving my times and run each race better than the last one.  I want to keep pushing my body and see how far I can go (without ending up with titanium knees by the time I'm 50).

Personal:

I am married to a great guy.  Running and being active is a big part of our lifestyle.  We typically take our children hiking at least once a week.  Most of the time, I can be seen around the City pushing my two kids in their BOB double-jogger, trying to get a few miles in.

I ran four miles on the treadmill.  Last week was a really bad week.  Everyday, I created an excuse not to run (too hot, too tired, too full, too hungry).  I am realizing that I am a morning runner.  If I don't get my run out of the way before 7:00am, it's not happening.

I ran on the treadmill during the day. I am trying really hard to be consistent. This year, my goal is to run to help me lose the weight I gained after having my second child. Not having a specific race as a goal makes it difficult to find the motivation to run. What is also frustrating is that I was hoping that by August, I would be down to my pre-pregnancy weight (not even close). I'm at that point in my running where I am not fit enought to enjoy running. Right now, running hurts---it's not fun. All I can do is try to remember why I loved running and how good it felt to be fit. The great thing is that Fall is around the corner and I LOVE running during the Fall.

I ran four slooooow miles on the treadmill.  I was surprised at how much fitness I lost.  I fell of the running wagon during the last few weeks, but I am trying to get back on.  After losing a few pounds, I started telling myself that it was okay to miss a run.  Before I knew it, I cut my runs from five to six a week to one or two a week.  I also started telling myself that, since I lost a few pounds, it was okay to start eating fast food again.  Here I am now---slower and plumper than I was one month ago.  I had a heart-to-heart with myself today and have renewed my commitment to get fit and faster.  If I don't, I will have to change my blog name from Plodding Hippo to Waddling Walrus.
